“Because I can talk better…A lot of things are private. I’ve always been a private person but I trust Felicity. She is sympathetic…a good listener. Something wrong in the brain…we work together about understanding how a stroke is.” GG
“I have a rare progressive neurological condition which results in a complex mixture of speech and language problems. No help was available from NHS – no resources for one-to-one help - and the groups on offer didn’t cater for my needs. My ability to communicate was getting worse and that when was I phoned Felicity Parsons - one of the best things I ever did! She comes to my home which is a big plus as I also have mobility problems. She began by assessing my problems both by talking to me and by some informal tests before coming up with a written summary of my difficulties (which I and my husband thought were spot on), long-term and short-term goals. I have been seeing her for 3 months – I don’t see her every week – and through strategies I have learnt I have felt increasingly confident about my speech. Family and friends have commented on the improvement.
I have ‘homework’ but it can be fun – word games played with family members! My husband has appreciated being involved- he’s not present during the sessions – but often pops in to hear from Felicity what help he give me between sessions. Apart from being a very experienced and skilled speech and language therapist her approach is both positive and encouraging.” AC
“As a therapist, Felicity combines sensitivity and intuition with practicality and a sound knowledge base. Her work with us at Dyscover showed that she truly understands the difficulties faced by people who live with aphasia as a chronic condition. Felicity offers patient and empathetic support whilst at the same time encouraging people to look forward with optimism. Her warmth, good humour and professionalism make Felicity a reliable and respected colleague and team member.”

"I came to you because I had a stroke and felt I needed some speech therapy. Felicity dealt with the situation very professionally, outlining the various options and discussing the best chances of success. As it happens the agreed best way of improving my problem was not straightforward, simply to concentrate on reading out loud. This was successful, due to Felicity's methods and sympathetic dealing."
